D5080 Passport Peacebuilder Club

The Rotary Club of D5080 Passport became a Peacebuilder Club on 16 January 2020. This was the first designated Peacebuilder Club in District 5080 and was instrumental in setting the example for other Clubs to become involved in Peacebuilding.

On 25 October 2022, the club officially changed its charter to include its new name as the District 5080 Passport Peacebuilder Club.

Since its designation as a Peacebuilder Club, over 50% of the members have been engaged in Peacebuilding activities at the District, Zone, and Global levels.

Five members of the club are active participants with the District 5080 Peace Committee and were instrumental in the creation of this standing committee of the District in September 2021. This committee operates the D5080 Peace Academy and the D5080 Peace Speaker's Bureau, and has worked extensively in the developing the Peacebuilders in Action Arc of Positive Peace events, a series of five conferences or summits designed to introduce participants to the methods of using the Pillars of Positive Peace to implement sustainable Rotary projects locally, throughout the District, and across the Globe.

Four members of the club are Executives or Directors of the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park Association.

One member is an active member of Mediators Beyond Barriers International, a Rotary International partner organization.

In May 2022, the club partnered with the Colville Rotary Club to plant and dedicate a Peace Pole at the District 5080 Annual Conference in Colville, Washington.

In the fall/winter of 2022-2023, a club member managed the District Peace Pole Chain campaign resulting in the placement and dedication of eight peace poles throughout the District on both sides of the international border. Most of these peace poles were funded through District Express Grants.
